Beginning his early driving career in the wild and often daring sport of Drag Boat Racing, Jimmy Perry emerged as a talented driver right from the start. Able to harness the awesome power of a ¼ mile race boat in the shortest of time frames, Perry racked up numerous record breaking passes while driving for his friend and mentor Dave Sharp in his "Hydro Therapy" Pro Gas Hydro.

Pro Gas Hydro was a class of drag racing that consisted of boats whose power came from the same source as those racing in Pro Stock within NHRA Drag Racing. This class was a highly competitive field whose wins and losses more often depended on the driver and his abilities than any other factor. Speeds regularly exceeded 170 mph and ¼ mile elapsed times dipped below 7 seconds.

Knowing that his time in boat racing was a successful and motivating endeavor, Perry decided to make the splash out of boats and into drag racing on land. The possibilities for full time racing and the desire for racing in the highest level of competition has landed Perry where he is today in a 270+ mph ¼ mile rocket known as a "LUCAS OIL TOP ALCOHOL DRAGSTER".

"I am excited about the possibilities that lie in front of me", says Perry. It would seem he should be, with two children and a supportive wife this multi-faceted up and coming star is finding focus and direction in his life. "My career objective has been, and always will be, to succeed in professional motor sports while providing the most rewarding environment for my family. With this new racing venture, I will strive my hardest to see to it that these goals become a reality". With natural racing talent, a winning spirit, and a very supportive family, he is sure to reach, those as well as many more acheivements.

Lucas Oil competition exists within the NHRA and its divisional associations, providing countless hours of experience to drivers whose aim is to make the eventual step up into the highest professional ranks following a nationwide televised championship tour.
